Okinawa Shogaku High School - International Department of Humanities and Sciences

International Department of Humanities and Sciences

Okinawa Shogaku High School has a class called the international course that supports students who wants to go to college abroad. The difference between the international course and other classes is that the international courses have more English classes.

Okinawa Shogaku High School employs several native English speakers every year as part of an effort to improve its English curriculum and expose students to an international atmosphere. Many of these teachers come from Saint John's University and the College of Saint Benedict and Saint Mary's University of Minnesota in Minnesota, USA.

Famous quotes containing the words department, humanities and/or sciences:

While the focus in the landscape of Old World cities was commonly government structures, churches, or the residences of rulers, the landscape and the skyline of American cities have boasted their hotels, department stores, office buildings, apartments, and skyscrapers. In this grandeur, Americans have expressed their Booster Pride, their hopes for visitors and new settlers, and customers, for thriving commerce and industry.
    Daniel J. Boorstin (b. 1914)

There is no true expertise in the humanities without knowing all of the humanities. Art is a vast, ancient interconnected web-work, a fabricated tradition. Overconcentration on any one point is a distortion.
    Camille Paglia (b. 1947)

These modern ingenious sciences and arts do not affect me as those more venerable arts of hunting and fishing, and even of husbandry in its primitive and simple form; as ancient and honorable trades as the sun and moon and winds pursue, coeval with the faculties of man, and invented when these were invented. We do not know their John Gutenberg, or Richard Arkwright, though the poets would fain make them to have been gradually learned and taught.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
