Ohm - Power As A Function of Resistance

Power As A Function of Resistance

The power dissipated by a linear resistor may be calculated from its resistance, and voltage or current. The formula is a combination of Ohm's law and Joule's laws:

where:

P = power in watts
R = resistance in ohms
V = voltage across the resistor
I = current through the resistor in amps

This formula is applicable to devices whose resistance varies with current.

Famous quotes containing the words power, function and/or resistance:

    A new degree of intellectual power seems cheap at any price.
