Performance
OCB performance overhead is minimal comparing to classical, non-authenticating modes like CBC. OCB requires one block cipher operation per each block of encrypted and authenticated message and one block cipher operation per each block of additional associated data. There are also two extra encryptions required at the end of process.
For comparison, CCM mode offering similar functionality requires twice as many block cipher operations per each message block (associated data requires one as in OCB).

Famous quotes containing the word performance:
“So long as the source of our identity is externalvested in how others judge our performance at work, or how others judge our childrens performance, or how much money we makewe will find ourselves hopelessly flawed, forever short of the ideal.”
—Melinda M. Marshall (20th century)
“No performance is worth loss of geniality. Tis a cruel price we pay for certain fancy goods called fine arts and philosophy.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“Nobody can misunderstand a boy like his own mother.... Mothers at present can bring children into the world, but this performance is apt to mark the end of their capacities. They cant even attend to the elementary animal requirements of their offspring. It is quite surprising how many children survive in spite of their mothers.”
—Norman Douglas (18681952)
