Born the son of Captain Herbert Blake Parker and Diana Katherine Barnwell, Parker was educated at attended the independent Sherborne School in north-west Dorset and the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. Parker has listed Coronation Street and fishing amongst his interests.
