Pension System
As of 2012, the SUNY police is the only state police agency that does not participate in the police and fireman's pension system. As the force did not exist when the pension system was established for the other groups, SUNY officers remain outside the system. The SUNY police do not receive extra pay for nighttime shifts, a benefit granted to others state employees.

Famous quotes containing the words pension and/or system:
“It is a sort of ranger service. Arnolds expedition is a daily experience with these settlers. They can prove that they were out at almost any time; and I think that all the first generation of them deserve a pension more than any that went to the Mexican war.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“The violent illiteracies of the graffiti, the clenched silence of the adolescent, the nonsense cries from the stage-happening, are resolutely strategic. The insurgent and the freak-out have broken off discourse with a cultural system which they despise as a cruel, antiquated fraud. They will not bandy words with it. Accept, even momentarily, the conventions of literate linguistic exchange, and you are caught in the net of the old values, of the grammars that can condescend or enslave.”
—George Steiner (b. 1929)
