National Youth Organisation (Greece) - Symbols

Symbols

The emblem of the organization was a Minoan labrys surrounded by laurel wreaths, topped with a royal crown. It was similar to the emblem of Fascist Italy at the time, which featured an ancient Roman fasces surrounded by laurel wreaths, from which fascism got its name. The emblem was used on the flag, as well as on the caps of the members of the organization. The flag of the organization, used on parades, was similar to the flag of Greece. It featured a white cross on a blue fiend, with the emblem of EON charged in the center in gold, and the royal crown moved to the upper hoist side quadrant. The motto of the organization was "One Nation, One King, One Leader, One Youth".

Famous quotes containing the word symbols:

I do not deny that there may be other well-founded causes for the hatred which various classes feel toward politicians, but the main one seems to me that politicians are symbols of the fact that every class must take every other class into account.
    José Ortega Y Gasset (1883–1955)

If the Americans, in addition to the eagle and the Stars and Stripes and the more unofficial symbols of bison, moose and Indian, should ever need another emblem, one which is friendly and pleasant, then I think they should choose the grapefruit. Or rather the half grapefruit, for this fruit only comes in halves, I believe. Practically speaking, it is always yellow, always just as fresh and well served. And it always comes at the same, still hopeful hour of the morning.
    Johan Huizinga (1872–1945)

And into the gulf between cantankerous reality and the male ideal of shaping your world, sail the innocent children. They are right there in front of us—wild, irresponsible symbols of everything else we can’t control.
    Hugh O’Neill (20th century)
