Mykhaylo Maksymovych

Mykhailo Oleksandrovych Maksymovych (also spelled Mykhailo; Ukrainian: Михайло Олександрович Максимович; September 3, 1804-November 10, 1873) was a famous Ukrainian naturalist, historian and writer.

He contributed to the life sciences, especially botany and zoology, and to linguistics, folklore, ethnography, history, literary studies, and archaeology. A well-known Slavist, he was a central figure of the Ukrainian national awakening of the nineteenth century.
