MVHS offers Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity Football. The Varsity team was headed by Coach Lance Neal, who took over in the 2006 season after former coach Wally Clark retired. Notable performances include three semi-final (2001, 2002, and 2008), and six quarter final playoff appearances. Also, professional football player Jorge Cordova hails from MVHS. Neal was terminated as head coach at the end of the 2008 school year and was replaced by Coach Ireland.

Famous quotes containing the word football:
“In this dream that dogs me I am part
Of a silent crowd walking under a wall,
Leaving a football match, perhaps, or a pit,
All moving the same way.”
—Philip Larkin (1922–1986)
“In football they measure forty-yard sprints. Nobody runs forty yards in basketball. Maybe you run the ninety-four feet of the court; then you stop, not on a dime, but on Miss Liberty’s torch. In football you run over somebody’s face.”
—Donald Hall (b. 1928)
“...I’m not money hungry.... People who are rich want to be richer, but what’s the difference? You can’t take it with you. The toys get different, that’s all. The rich guys buy a football team, the poor guys buy a football. It’s all relative.”
—Martina Navratilova (b. 1956)
