Moka Five - How MokaFive Works

How MokaFive Works

MokaFive consists of three main components: Player, Creator, and Management Server. Users use the Player to run LivePC images on their local computers. Running images locally allows users to run images offline as well as online.

MokaFive Player is a lightweight application that end-users install on their computers. It controls the entire virtual desktop.

Unlike standard virtual-machine images, LivePC images have features that make it particularly adapted for desktop management:

  • LivePC images allow users to install personal applications and maintain their user data and settings, and allow for IT to update their operating systems and corporate applications.
  • LivePC images can be joined to an Active Directory domain without requiring a reboot, and they remain joined through image updates.

MokaFive’s Player is designed for improved end-user experience and IT desktop management:

  • Differential updates which load in the background
  • Granular security policies
  • Single-sign-on to images
  • Encryption
  • AD-based authentication
  • Revoke and kill of images
  • Similar Windows and Macintosh experience
  • Printing to the host's printers
  • Performance enhancements for USB deployments

MokaFive Image Store updates are compressed differentials, greatly reducing network utilization. Bandwidth use is dynamically adjusted to share network capacity. Image stores can be placed close to users, so WAN traffic is minimized. Amazon S3 can be used as an image store to reach far-flung offices without deploying dedicated servers.

Famous quotes containing the word works:

Science is feasible when the variables are few and can be enumerated; when their combinations are distinct and clear. We are tending toward the condition of science and aspiring to do it. The artist works out his own formulas; the interest of science lies in the art of making science.
    Paul Valéry (1871–1945)
