Historical Significance
- Puerto Rico achieved its second victory, having last won in 1983. The 21-year gap stands as the longest gap between wins. It also made Puerto Rico only the fourth territory with a second title, and gave them the second-most wins after Brazil, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela, which all have three.
- Uruguay managed to place for the first time. Uruguay had first competed in the first international edition in 1983, but had yet to place in 17 pageants.
- Puerto Rico also placed in 2003.
- Brazil placed for the fourth consecutive time.
- The United Kingdom managed to place for the first time, while simultaneously debuting at the pageant.
- El Salvador last placed in 1992.
- Peru last placed in 1998.
- The Dominican Republic last placed in 2002, when Claudia Cruz won.
