Midget Car Racing - Stepping Stone To High Profile Divisions

Stepping Stone To High Profile Divisions

Many IndyCar and NASCAR drivers used midget car racing as an intermediate stepping stone on their way to more high profile divisions, including Tony Stewart, Sarah Fisher, Jeff Gordon, Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman and others. The events are sometimes held on weeknights so that popular and famous drivers from other, higher-profiled types of motor racing will be available to compete, and so that it does not conflict with drivers' home tracks.

Famous quotes containing the words stepping, stone, high, profile and/or divisions:

Innocence: “I am only stepping on your face because it lies in my path.”
    Mason Cooley (b. 1927)

Certainly ordinary language has no claim to be the last word, if there is such a thing. It embodies, indeed, something better than the metaphysics of the Stone Age, namely, as was said, the inherited experience and acumen of many generations of men.
    —J.L. (John Langshaw)

Though with their high wrongs I am struck to the quick,
Yet with my nobler reason ‘gainst my fury
Do I take part. The rarer action is
    In virtue than in vengeance.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

    Nature centres into balls,
    And her proud ephemerals,
    Fast to surface and outside,
    Scan the profile of the sphere;
    Knew they what that signified,
    A new genesis were here.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

I find myself ... hoping a total end of all the unhappy divisions of mankind by party-spirit, which at best is but the madness of many for the gain of a few.
    Alexander Pope (1688–1744)
