Miami International Airport - Ground Transportation

Ground Transportation

Miami International Airport has direct public transport links to Miami-Dade Transit's Metrobus network; free shuttles are also provided to and from the Miami Airport and Hialeah Market Stations on the Tri-Rail commuter rail line. Both stations are close, within a 5 minute drive from the main terminal. Miami International Airport now gets passengers from the runway to the roadway faster than ever before with the MIA Mover, a 1.25-mile-long automated people mover system between MIA and the Miami Intermodal Center that opened to the public on September 9, 2011. The Miami Central Station with connections to Tri-Rail and Amtrak is scheduled to open in mid-2013.

On July 28, 2012, the Grand Opening of the spectacular Miami International Airport Metrorail Station and the launching of the Metrorail Orange Line occurred, providing passenger rail service from Miami International Airport to Downtown. With this expansion, Miami-Dade County proudly joins the ranks of major metropolitan areas around the world with rapid transit connections to their airports.

Taxis, shuttle services, limousines, and rental cars are currently available within the airport. Taxis and shuttles provide flat rates to popular destinations within Miami, such as the beaches or the city center.

Famous quotes containing the word ground:

O how can it be that the ground itself does not sicken?
How can you be alive you growths of spring?
How can you furnish health you blood of herbs, roots, orchards, grain?
Are they not continually putting distemper’d corpses within you?
Is not every continent work’d over and over with sour dead?
    Walt Whitman (1819–1892)
