Melvin Bullitt - Personal

Personal

He wears the No. 33 in honor of his father, Jerry Bullitt, who wore the number as a linebacker at Texas A&M. When asked about his number, Bullitt stated: "I kind of feel like when I'm wearing (No. 33), a piece of my dad is with me when I'm on the field." Teammate Dominic Rhodes previously wore the same number for six seasons from 2001–2006 before playing the 2007 season for the Oakland Raiders. Once Rhodes returned to the Colts prior to the 2008 season, he tried to get the number back and even offered Bullitt serious money for it, but to no avail.

Famous quotes containing the word personal:

Let no guilty man escape, if it can be avoided.... No personal considerations should stand in the way of performing a duty.
    Ulysses S. Grant (1822–1885)

Fine art is the subtlest, the most seductive, the most effective instrument of moral propaganda in the world, excepting only the example of personal conduct; and I waive even this exception in favor of the art of the stage, because it works by exhibiting examples of personal conduct made intelligible and moving to crowds of unobservant unreflecting people to whom real life means nothing.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)

The grief of the keen is no personal complaint for the death of one woman over eighty years, but seems to contain the whole passionate rage that lurks somewhere in every native of the island. In this cry of pain the inner consciousness of the people seems to lay itself bare for an instant, and to reveal the mood of beings who feel their isolation in the face of a universe that wars on them with winds and seas.
    —J.M. (John Millington)
