Markham Stouffville Hospital - Heliport

Heliport

A heliport is located at the east end of the hospital to facilitate medical airlifts to and from the hospital. The pad's designation is (TC LID: CPH7). Transfer of patients requires a journey of approximately 150 ft (46 m) from the pad to the near entrance at the rear. It is only hospital helipad in the Greater Toronto Area not located directly to the hospital structure. Upon completion of the rebuilding of the hospital in 2014, the helipad will move to the roof of the new emergency wing and allow the transfer of patients directly into the hospital building. The new pad will be elevated from the roof of the hospital by a steel frame with a ramp to the entrance to the hospital. The relocation will provide a safer landing area given the current pad is next to public access roads around the rear of the hospital. The old pad site will likely be re-developed after the expansion is completed.
