Health Risks
Marathon running has various health risks. Training and the races themselves put runners under stress. While rare, even death is a possibility during a race.
Common health risks include injury such as tendonitis, fatigue, knee or ankle sprain, extreme dehydration (electrolyte imbalance), and other conditions. Many are categorised as overuse injuries.

Famous quotes containing the words health and/or risks:
“No one ever promised me it would be easy and its not. But I also get many rewards from seeing my children grow, make strong decisions for themselves, and set out on their own as independent, strong, likeable human beings. And I like who I am becoming, too. Having teenagers has made me more human, more flexible, more humble, more questioningand, finally its given me a better sense of humor!”
—Anonymous Father. Ourselves and Our Children, by Boston Womens Health Book Collective, ch. 4 (1978)
“The question is whether personal freedom is worth the terrible effort, the never-lifted burden and risks of self-reliance.”
—Rose Wilder Lane (18861968)
