The Manager Tools Podcast is a weekly audio podcast focused on helping managers become more effective. It is a free podcast and Website that focuses on the practical aspects of becoming a better manager. The show, hosted by Michael Auzenne and Mark Horstman, was awarded People's Choice Podcast from Podcast Awards in 2008, and won the Best Business Podcast award in three consecutive years 2006, 2007 and 2008. They won this award again in 2012. The podcast, together with the sister podcast Career Tools is unique through its combination of a series of simple steps to follow for effective practice, in combination with a good background on how these recommendations lead to the best results. Caricatured, each of the shows consists of "a hundred" simple steps, and contains half a dozen times where Mark gets on his soapbox to exclaim how badly and ineffectively some things are often done in normal practice.

Famous quotes containing the words manager and/or tools:

Nothing could his enemies do but it rebounded to his infinite advantage,—that is, to the advantage of his cause.... No theatrical manager could have arranged things so wisely to give effect to his behavior and words. And who, think you, was the manager? Who placed the slave-woman and her child, whom he stooped to kiss for a symbol, between his prison and the gallows?
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

In child rearing it would unquestionably be easier if a child were to do something because we say so. The authoritarian method does expedite things, but it does not produce independent functioning. If a child has not mastered the underlying principles of human interactions and merely conforms out of coercion or conditioning, he has no tools to use, no resources to apply in the next situation that confronts him.
    Elaine Heffner (20th century)
