Famous quotes containing the words maine, black and/or bears:

Making a logging-road in the Maine woods is called “swamping” it, and they who do the work are called “swampers.” I now perceived the fitness of the term. This was the most perfectly swamped of all the roads I ever saw. Nature must have coƶperated with art here.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

    Black girl black girl
    lips as curved as cherries
    full as grape bunches
    sweet as blackberries
    Dudley Randall (b. 1914)

For insolence, once blossoming, bears its fruit, a bushel of doom, from which it reaps a tear-filled harvest.
    Aeschylus (525–456 B.C.)
