Meditation Camp

Meditation retreat is at the end of the second or the beginning of third month of every semester. Meditation Camp is required for every student. Every semester, for ten days or a week, Mahapanya organizes a retreat which targets the practice Buddhist meditation of both traditions: Theravada and Mahayana. It aims to develop MPV’s academic standard as well as student’s confidence on their study. Since MPV offers B.A in Mahayana studies, practice is regarded as key of succeed in academic and spiritual practice. Only theory is not enough for Buddhist monks to prove the knowledge of Buddhism to 21st century. So MPV provides and aims to educate students in theoretical and practical aspects of Buddhism.

Ten days of meditation retreat helps students to know each other well because during retreat students live under the same roof, work in groups, help and encourage each other to follow the vinaya rules. Buddhist lecturers guide students to follow every step of meditation. For camp, MPV cancels general classes and focus only on the retreat to provide pure knowledge of meditation. The authorized founder, Venerable director and every staff member joins this retreat.

Famous quotes containing the words meditation and/or camp:

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be
acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.
Bible: Hebrew Psalm XIX (l. XIX, 14)

Usually the scenery about them is drear and savage enough; and the logger’s camp is as completely in the woods as a fungus at the foot of a pine in a swamp; no outlook but to the sky overhead; no more clearing than is made by cutting down the trees of which it is built, and those which are necessary for fuel.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
