Loxwood - Schools

Schools

Loxwood Primary School was reported to have 155 children on the school roll in 2001. However many - typically 30% to 50% of these children are not from Loxwood itself, but from surrounding villages; this has been attributed to the closing of smaller adjacent, village schools. The result is that Loxwood Primary School has thrived with a strong and active group of parents assisting the Teaching Staff in areas such as fund raising. A "pre-School" is adjacent to the school, very strongly supported financially and in other ways by an active Parents group who among other efforts have run a very successful Beer Festival for several years.

Famous quotes containing the word schools:

Absolute catholicity of taste is not without its dangers. It is only an auctioneer who should admire all schools of art.
    Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)

In schools all over the world, little boys learn that their country is the greatest in the world, and the highest honor that could befall them would be to defend it heroically someday. The fact that empathy has traditionally been conditioned out of boys facilitates their obedience to leaders who order them to kill strangers.
Myriam Miedzian, U.S. author. Boys Will Be Boys, ch. 3 (1991)

I lay my eternal curse on whomsoever shall now or at any time hereafter make schoolbooks of my works and make me hated as Shakespeare is hated. My plays were not designed as instruments of torture. All the schools that lust after them get this answer, and will never get any other.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)
