Longbridge Railway Station - History

History

The current station, on Tessall Lane, was built in 1978, as part of the West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive's Cross-City Line scheme, at a cost of around £300,000. An earlier Longbridge station had existed nearby, on the Halesowen Railway's branch to Old Hill.

As part of general plans to improve Longbridge, the station may be redeveloped in the coming years. Centro, the passenger transport executive for the area, have also proposed the building of a new multi-storey car park, to provide park and ride facilities at the station.
