Living Sacrifice is a Christian heavy metal band that formed in September 1989 in Little Rock, Arkansas, United States. The band has released seven studio albums, out of which the first three were recorded under R.E.X. Records with their original vocalist Darren Johnson as a more thrash metal and death metal oriented band. The band evolved into a metalcore style beginning with Reborn (1997) under Solid State Records with the original guitarist Bruce Fitzhugh on vocals. In sound they became similar to, but still distinct from Sepultura, while others have made comparisons to early Meshuggah. In 2003 the group split up, and later their label, Solidstate, released their best-of album, In Memoriam (2005). In 2008 Living Sacrifice reformed and released a two-song digital only single called "Death Machine". They then began working on The Infinite Order which was released on January 26, 2010.

Famous quotes containing the words living and/or sacrifice:
“Kitterings brain. What we will he think when he resumes life in that body? Will he thank us for giving him a new lease on life? Or will he object to finding his ego living in that human junk heap?”
—W. Scott Darling, and Erle C. Kenton. Dr. Frankenstein (Sir Cedric Hardwicke)
“So long as you write what you wish to write, that is all that matters; and whether it matters for ages or only for hours, nobody can say. But to sacrifice a hair of the head of your vision, a shade of its colour, in deference to some Headmaster with a silver pot in his hand or to some professor with a measuring-rod up his sleeve, is the most abject treachery, and the sacrifice or wealth and chastity, which used to be said to be the greatest of human disasters, a mere flea-bite in comparison.”
—Virginia Woolf (18821941)
