Famous quotes containing the words temples and, temples, cult and/or images:
“Color is my day-long obsession, joy and torment. To such an extent indeed that one day, finding myself at the deathbed of a woman who had been and still was very dear to me, I caught myself in the act of focusing on her temples and automatically analyzing the succession of appropriately graded colors which death was imposing on her motionless face.”
—Claude Monet (18401926)
“This city now doth, like a garment, wear
The beauty of the morning; silent bare,
Ships, towers, domes, theatres and temples lie
Open unto the fields and to the sky;
All bright and glittering in the smokeless air.”
—William Wordsworth (17701850)
“The cult of art gives pride; one never has too much of it.”
—Gustave Flaubert (18211880)
“I tell it stories now and then
and feed it images like honey.
I will not speculate today
with poems that think theyre money.”
—Anne Sexton (19281974)
