Leonora Armstrong - Marriage

Marriage

In August 1941, Leonora married an Englishman, Harold V. Armstrong, a widower whom she had known for several years. He was a great support in helping Leonora to accomplish many of the services that she dedicated during her life to the Bahá'í Cause, specifically her translation work. Leonora and her husband lived in many places throughout Brazil, and though they never had children of their own they adopted and raised about twenty children over the course of the years, or provided others with financial assistance towards basic needs and education.

Famous quotes containing the word marriage:

The reason why women effect so little and are so shallow is because their aims are low, marriage is the prize for which they strive; if foiled in that they rarely rise above disappointment ... [ellipsis in source]
    Sarah M. Grimke (1792–1873)

There is a time for all things—Except Marriage my dear.
    Thomas Chatterton (1752–1770)

With my desire to write he seemed in full sympathy, and in urging our early marriage he argued that my first necessity was leisure in which to develop and to master my craft. Rheta Childe Dorr (1866–1948)
