Legal Complaints Service - Further Criticism and Reform

Further Criticism and Reform

Chief Executive Evans was criticised as actively seeking-out complaints about solicitors and as showing an excess of zeal in making work for her organisation in a bid to attract more funding.

Complaints handling was further criticised in Sir David Clementi's 2004 report into regulation of legal services.

When the Legal Services Act 2007 fully came into force, the Legal Services Complaints Commissioner was abolished and replaced with an Office for Legal Complaints which supervises the complaints handling of solicitors, barristers and other legal professionals.

Famous quotes containing the words criticism and/or reform:

It is ... pathetic to observe the complete lack of imagination on the part of certain employers and men and women of the upper-income levels, equally devoid of experience, equally glib with their criticism ... directed against workers, labor leaders, and other villains and personal devils who are the objects of their dart-throwing. Who doesn’t know the wealthy woman who fulminates against the “idle” workers who just won’t get out and hunt jobs?
    Mary Barnett Gilson (1877–?)

When I go into a museum and see the mummies wrapped in their linen bandages, I see that the lives of men began to need reform as long ago as when they walked the earth. I come out into the streets, and meet men who declare that the time is near at hand for the redemption of the race. But as men lived in Thebes, so do they live in Dunstable today.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
