Famous quotes containing the word ranks:

Money is a singular thing. It ranks with love as man’s greatest source of joy. And with death as his greatest source of anxiety. Over all history it has oppressed nearly all people in one of two ways: either it has been abundant and very unreliable, or reliable and very scarce.
    John Kenneth Galbraith (b. 1908)

Among the best traitors Ireland has ever had, Mother Church ranks at the very top, a massive obstacle in the path to equality and freedom. Bernadette Devlin (b. 1947)

Next to our free political institutions, our free public-school system ranks as the greatest achievement of democratic life in America ...
    Agnes E. Meyer (1887–1970)
