Kimpanzu - Fall From Power

Fall From Power

The Kimpanzu dynasty in Kongo would be a short one, and civil war continued between partisans of the Count of Soyo and a noble named Gregario. The Count and his allies, two Jesuit brothers once loyal to Álvaro IV, won. The brothers, Álvaro Nimi and Garcia Nkanga, defeated and decapitated Álvaro V and set up their own dynasty known as the House of Kinlaza. The remaining Kimpanzu who would not recognize the brothers fled south in the county of Soyo.

Famous quotes containing the words fall and/or power:

    Follow your saint, follow with accents sweet;
    Haste you, sad notes, fall at her flying feet.
    There, wrapped in cloud of sorrow, pity move,
    And tell the ravisher of my soul I perish for her love.
    Thomas Campion (1567–1620)

    Only that type of story deserves to be called moral that shows us that one has the power within oneself to act, out of the conviction that there is something better, even against one’s own inclination.
    Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe (1749–1832)
