Music Composition Revisited
By the time Harris was 23 he had once again become interested in piano and music composition. It was about this time he met Claude Fazio, an amateur composer who would generously spend time after work and during lunch breaks teaching Harris the basics of music composition. His efforts came to fruition in early 1993 when Harris composed a set of three Klavierstück, followed by his first String Quartet in F Major. In 1994 Fazio moved to Seattle, Washington and left Harris to continue his studies on his own. Over the next two years Harris would teach himself what he needed to know.

Famous quotes containing the words music, composition and/or revisited:
“Music is either sacred or secular. The sacred agrees with its dignity, and here has its greatest effect on life, an effect that remains the same through all ages and epochs. Secular music should be cheerful throughout.”
—Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe (17491832)
“Viewed freely, the English language is the accretion and growth of every dialect, race, and range of time, and is both the free and compacted composition of all.”
—Walt Whitman (18191892)
“And yet we constantly reclaim some part of that primal spontaneity through the youngest among us, not only through their sorrow and anger but simply through everyday discoveries, life unwrapped. To see a child touch the piano keys for the first time, to watch a small body slice through the surface of the water in a clean dive, is to experience the shock, not of the new, but of the familiar revisited as though it were strange and wonderful.”
—Anna Quindlen (b. 1952)
