Kenneth Sims - Professional Career

Professional Career

Sims never lived up to the expectations of being the first overall pick in 1982. He only played the full 16 game schedule once, and played 74 career games with only 17 sacks over eight NFL seasons. His best year was in 1985, when he managed 5.5 sacks and played in Super Bowl XX. Sims was tagged with the nickname "Game Day" when he explained his disinterest in practice by saying "I'll be there on game day." In June 1990, Sims was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine in Austin, Texas. Shortly afterwards the Patriots released an out of shape Sims, and he eventually retired.

Sims now hosts Texas Football Roundup on ESPN Radio in Austin, Texas and is a season ticket holder for University of Texas at Austin basketball and football games.

Famous quotes containing the words professional and/or career:

Virtue and vice suppose the freedom to choose between good and evil; but what can be the morals of a woman who is not even in possession of herself, who has nothing of her own, and who all her life has been trained to extricate herself from the arbitrary by ruse, from constraint by using her charms?... As long as she is subject to man’s yoke or to prejudice, as long as she receives no professional education, as long as she is deprived of her civil rights, there can be no moral law for her!
    Flora Tristan (1803–1844)

They want to play at being mothers. So let them. Expressing tenderness in their own way will not prevent girls from enjoying a successful career in the future; indeed, the ability to nurture is as valuable a skill in the workplace as the ability to lead.
    Anne Roiphe (20th century)
