Geography
The soils consists mainly of recent sediments (Alluvium, Teri’s, Brown sand which had a sticky nature etc.). Red coloured sticky soil also found in these areas. Climate is generally tropical, heavy rains accompanied by thunder are common from June through September. The average annual rainfall is about 350 cm. the Periyar river also harbor many different types of fishes. Jackfruit, coconut, mango trees etc. are mainly seen in these areas. Main mode of transportation are roadways, airport and railway.
