Famous quotes containing the word life:
“You are old, Father William, the young man cried,
And life must be hastening away;
You are cheerful, and love to converse upon death:
Now tell me the reason, I pray.
I am cheerful, young man, Father William replied;
Let the cause thy attention engage;
In the days of my youth I remembered my God,
And He hath not forgotten my age.”
—Robert Southey (17741843)
“In certain almost supernatural states of the soul, the profundity of life reveals itself entirely in the spectacle, however ordinary it may be, before ones eyes. It becomes its symbol.”
—Charles Baudelaire (18211867)
“Our life of poverty is as necessary as the work itself. Only in heaven will we see how much we owe to the poor for helping us to love God better because of them.”
—Mother Teresa (b. 1910)
