Juan Valdez Drinks Costa Rican Coffee

Juan Valdez drinks Costa Rican coffee (Spanish: Juan Valdez bebe café de Costa Rica) is a slogan, implying that Juan Valdez, a fictional character created by the Federación Nacional de Cafeteros de Colombia (Fedcafé), drinks coffee from Costa Rica. In Costa Rica, the slogan is popular on bumper stickers. The slogan prompted a lawsuit for the first time in 2006, when Federación Nacional de Cafeteros de Colombia sued Café Britt following a t-shirt dispute.

Famous quotes containing the words juan, drinks and/or coffee:

    Is that the Craig Jurgesen that Teddy Roosevelt gave you?... And you used it at San Juan Hill defending liberty. Now you want to destroy it.

    ‘He hardly drinks a pint of wine,
    And that, I doubt, is no good sign.
    His stomach too begins to fail:
    Last year we thought him strong and hale,
    But now, he’s quite another thing;
    I wish he may hold out till spring.’

    Then hug themselves, and reason thus;
    ‘It is not yet so bad with us.’

    Coleman Dowell (1925–1985)
