Johnson, Arkansas - Reputation As A Speed Trap

Reputation As A Speed Trap

Johnson has a reputation as a speed trap. The Johnson Police Department has several cars which are used to strictly enforce traffic laws and protect the citizens of Johnson. These cars are painted black and silver. During most days the police will have one car staged to control the speed along Main Drive (East and West) or Wilkerson (North and South). When driving through Johnson, one should be careful to observe the posted speed limit, and wear your seat belt.

Famous quotes containing the words reputation, speed and/or trap:

    I am sorry to say we whites have a sad reputation among many of the Polynesians. The natives of these islands are naturally of a kindly and hospitable temper, but there has been implanted among them an almost instinctive hate of the white man. They esteem us, with rare exceptions, such as some of the missionaries, the most barbarous, treacherous, irreligious, and devilish creatures on the earth.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)

    If it be aught toward the general good,
    Set honor in one eye, and death i’th’ other,
    And I will look on both indifferently;
    For let the gods so speed me as I love
    The name of honor more than I fear death.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

    We are not very much to blame for our bad marriages. We live amid hallucinations; and this especial trap is laid to trip our feet with, and all are tripped up first and last. But the mighty Mother who had been so sly with us, as if she felt that she owed us some indemnity, insinuates into the Pandora-box of marriage some deep and serious benefits, and some great joys.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
