Escape

Dunn was taken to Dubbo where he was treated for his wounds, Dunn was kept in the Police barracks, not the prison cells, because of the summer heat.

On January 14 Dunn escaped via an unlocked window at night, he was recaptured the next day by a hollow log near the river. He realised he was too ill to continue with his escape and tried to return to the barracks before collapsing at the spot where he was found.

Famous quotes containing the word escape:

To predict the behavior of ordinary people in advance, you only have to assume that they will always try to escape a disagreeable situation with the smallest possible expenditure of intelligence.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

A prince must be prudent enough to know how to escape the bad reputation of those vices that would lose the state for him, and must protect himself from those that will not lose it for him, if this is possible; but if he cannot, he need not concern himself unduly if he ignores these less serious vices.
    Niccolò Machiavelli (1469–1527)

When this immediate evil power has been defeated, we shall not yet have won the long battle with the elemental barbarities. Another Hitler, it may be an invisible adversary, will attempt, again, and yet again, to destroy our frail civilization. Is it true, I wonder, that the only way to escape a war is to be in it? When one is a part of an actuality does the imagination find a release?
    Ellen Glasgow (1873–1945)
