Joe Cahill - Death

Death

Cahill died at the age of 84 in Belfast as a result of being exposed to asbestos while working at the Harland & Wolff shipyards in his twenties. He and several other former shipyard workers later sued the company for their exposure to the dangerous substances but only won minimal compensation. There is a republican flute band from Glasgow named after Cahill.

Famous quotes containing the word death:

    Cowards die many times before their deaths;
    The valiant never taste of death but once.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

    The dignity to be sought in death is the appreciation by others of what one has been in life,... that proceeds from a life well lived and from the acceptance of one’s own death as a necessary process of nature.... It is also the recognition that the real event taking place at the end of our life is our death, not the attempts to prevent it.
    Sherwin B. Nuland (b. 1930)
