Famous quotes containing the words jimmy carter, carter and/or airport:

In the life of the human spirit, words are action, much more so than many of us may realize who live in countries where freedom of expression is taken for granted. Jimmy Carter (James Earl Carter, Jr.)

Throwing open the door, she brings forth the veritable queen of all the souffles, that spreads its archangelic wings over the entire kitchen as it leaps upwards from the dish in which the force of gravity alone confines it.
    —Angela Carter (1940–1992)

It was like taking a beloved person to the airport and returning to an empty house. I miss the people. I miss the world.
    Susan Sontag (b. 1933)
