The Cultural Council continues its work ensuring that the education and culture of Iran remains "100% Islamic" as Khomeini directed.

In 2006 there was talk of Universities "bracing" for "tighter state control over student bodies and faculties and perhaps even the second ‘Cultural Revolution'" It has resulted in the dismissal or compulsory retirement of veteran university faculties and their replacement with younger professors espousing the fervor of the Islamic Republic.

Famous quotes containing the words current and/or work:

Our current obsession with creativity is the result of our continued striving for immortality in an era when most people no longer believe in an after-life.
    Arianna Stassinopoulos (b. 1950)

There is no mystery in a looking glass until someone looks into it. Then, though it remains the same glass, it presents a different face to each man who holds it in front of him. The same is true of a work of art. It has no proper existence as art until someone is reflected in it—and no two will ever be reflected in the same way. However much we all see in common in such a work, at the center we behold a fragment of our own soul, and the greater the art the greater the fragment.
    Harold C. Goddard (1878–1950)
