International World Wide Web Conference

The International World Wide Web Conference (abbreviated as WWW) is a yearly international academic conference on the topic of the future direction of the World Wide Web. It began in 1994 and is organised by the International World Wide Web Conferences Steering Committee (IW3C2). It is aimed at "key influencers, decision makers, technologists, businesses and standards bodies". The event usually spreads over 5 days.

The conference series is aimed at providing a global forum for discussion and debate in regards to the standardization of its associated technologies and the impact of said technologies on society and culture. Developers, researchers, users, and commercial ventures are all brought together by the conference to discuss the evolution of the Web. The conferences are organized by the IW3C2 in collaboration with Local Organizing Committees and Technical Program Committees.

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is a partner to these conferences but does not organize them.

Famous quotes containing the words world, wide, web and/or conference:

Really, all things and persons are related to us, but according to our nature, they act on us not at once, but in succession, and we are made aware of their presence one at a time. All persons, all things which we have known, are here present, and many more than we see; the world is full.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

My uncle Toby had scarce a heart to retalliate upon a fly.
Go,—says he, one day at dinner, to an over-grown one which had buzz’d about his nose ... go poor Devil, get thee gone, why should I hurt thee?—This world surely is wide enough to hold both thee and me.
    Laurence Sterne (1713–1768)

If our web be framed with rotten handles, when our loom is well nigh done, our work is new to begin. God send the weaver true prentices again, and let them be denizens.
    Elizabeth I (1533–1603)

For 350 years we have been taught that reading maketh a full man, conference a ready man and writing an exact man. Football’s place is to add a patina of character, a deference to the rules and a respect for authority.
    Walter Wellesley (Red)
