Beliefs and Controversy

According to PolitiFact, the Institute in Basic Life Principles' teachings include that "a mother violates Scripture when she works outside the home, that married couples are to abstain from sex 40 days after the birth of a son, 80 days after the birth of a daughter and the evening prior to worship, and that people should avoid rock and even contemporary Christian music because it can be addictive." Sam Drzymala, a spokesman for then-Democratic U.S. Congressman Alan Grayson (who was representing Florida's 8th congressional district), has accused the organization of being a "right-wing cult" for their Biblical conservative beliefs. Known for wild acusations, Grayson also called then-Vice President Dick Cheney a vampire as well as his then-opponent Dan Webster a member of the Taliban.
