It was established in 1940 by the late Bishop Jerome M. Fernandez, the former Bishop of Kollam. The school is situated in Tangasseri, which was a stronghold of western culture with a historical background of ancient Portuguese, Dutch and English settlements. It was started by the Anglo Indian community (people who stayed back when British left India) to educate their children. It was later opened to the public in and around Kollam.

Famous quotes containing the words infant, jesus and/or school:

Families suffered badly under industrialization, but they survived, and the lives of men, women, and children improved. Children, once marginal and exploited figures, have moved to a position of greater protection and respect,... The historic decline in the overall death rates for children is an astonishing social fact, notwithstanding the disgraceful infant mortality figures for the poor and minorities. Like the decline in death from childbirth for women, this is a stunning achievement.
    Joseph Featherstone (20th century)

And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
    Bible: New Testament Matthew, 27:46.

The words of Jesus were anticipated in Psalms 22:1.

Loosed betwixt eye and lid, the swimming beams
Of memory, blind school of cuttlefish,
Rise to the air, plunge to the cold streams....
    Allen Tate (1899–1979)
