INCAE is sometimes referred to as "Harvard South" or as a "Harvard Sister School". Although INCAE is currently "officially independent", it does adhere to the Harvard Case Study Method and curriculum. The strongly supported "Case Study Method", allow students to examine actual past and current business situations which in turn gives them 2 years worth of indirect real world experience across industries and regions. The "Method" offers students the opportunity to step into the shoes of top level level executives, critique the decisions and provide alternative solutions. This method has been proven to produce business leaders around the world. While the majority of cases are translations from HBS case studies, INCAE students are additionally provided with regional emerging market studies.

INCAE also offers an international diversity that is difficult to replicate with students from various countries throughout the Americas, Canada and Europe. Admissions and the programs offered are extremely competitive with the ultimate goal of producing the next generation of business leaders.
