Impurity (New Model Army Album)

Impurity (New Model Army Album)

Impurity was released in 1990 and is the fifth studio album of British rock band New Model Army.

Impurity marked the exit of bassist Jason Harris who was replaced by Nelson. It was also to become the band's last studio album with EMI.

The album sees the band venturing further into the musical territory which they began exploring on their previous album, Thunder and Consolation (1989). Violinist Ed Alleyne-Johnson was again a vital collaborator. It also featured the works of guitarist Adrian Portas.

The album reached #23 on the UK albums chart in October 1990.

Famous quotes containing the words impurity, model and/or army:

Purity is not imposed upon us as though it were a kind of punishment, it is one of those mysterious but obvious conditions of that supernatural knowledge of ourselves in the Divine, which we speak of as faith. Impurity does not destroy this knowledge, it slays our need for it.
    Georges Bernanos (1888–1948)

The best way to teach a child restraint and generosity is to be a model of those qualities yourself. If your child sees that you want a particular item but refrain from buying it, either because it isn’t practical or because you can’t afford it, he will begin to understand restraint. Likewise, if you donate books or clothing to charity, take him with you to distribute the items to teach him about generosity.
    Lawrence Balter (20th century)

My topic for Army reunions ... this summer: How to prepare for war in time of peace. Not by fortifications, by navies, or by standing armies. But by policies which will add to the happiness and the comfort of all our people and which will tend to the distribution of intelligence [and] wealth equally among all. Our strength is a contented and intelligent community.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)
