Artistic Practice
Wallace has exhibited painting and photography nationally and internationally since 1965. He is known for juxtaposing monochrome painting and photography in a way that problematizes the differences between the two mediums, referencing aesthetic and social issues through themes of the studio, the museum and the street.
Ian Wallace is represented by Catriona Jeffries Gallery, Vancouver; Yvon Lambert, Paris; Galerie Greta Meert, Brussels; and Hauser & Wirth, New York, London and Zurich

Famous quotes containing the words artistic and/or practice:
“Realism should only be the means of expression of religious genius ... or, at the other extreme, the artistic expressions of monkeys which are quite satisfied with mere imitation. In fact, art is never realistic though sometimes it is tempted to be. To be really realistic a description would have to be endless.”
—Albert Camus (19131960)
“Tricks and treachery are the practice of fools that have not wit enough to be honest.”
—François, Duc De La Rochefoucauld (16131680)
