Future Airport
The Governor of West Java announced that there would be a new airport built to replace Husein Sastranegara International Airport, named Bandung Majalengka International Airport. It would be located in Kertajati, Majalengka Regency, some 100 kilometres (62 mi) east of Bandung. The plan has been uncertain, however, and halted due to long-term problems and lack of finances. Besides, a competing plan is being developed for the new airport at a more attractive location, such as near Karawang municipality.

Famous quotes containing the words future and/or airport:
“The circuited city of the future will not be the huge hunk of concentrated real estate created by the railway. It will take on a totally new meaning under conditions of very rapid movement. It will be an information megalopolis.”
—Marshall McLuhan (19111980)
“Airplanes are invariably scheduled to depart at such times as 7:54, 9:21 or 11:37. This extreme specificity has the effect on the novice of instilling in him the twin beliefs that he will be arriving at 10:08, 1:43 or 4:22, and that he should get to the airport on time. These beliefs are not only erroneous but actually unhealthy.”
—Fran Lebowitz (b. 1950)
