Hong Kong Touring Car Championship - 2004 Controversy

2004 Controversy

Championship leader Paul Poon was hit by Kenneth Look's teammate, Ronny Shum, in the fifth race of the 2004 championship and retired from the race, allowing Kenneth Look to win. The HKAA's failure to penalize Ronny Shum resulted in China Dragon Racing pulling out of the next race en masse after the warm-up lap. Kenneth Look subsequently won the 2004 title without much real opposition.

In November, the HKAA demanded an apology from China Dragon Racing for bringing the sport into disrepute before allowing them to enter the Guia Race in Macau.

Famous quotes containing the word controversy:

And therefore, as when there is a controversy in an account, the parties must by their own accord, set up for right Reason, the Reason of some Arbitrator, or Judge, to whose sentence, they will both stand, or their controversy must either come to blows, or be undecided, for want of a right Reason constituted by Nature; so is it also in all debates of what kind soever.
    Thomas Hobbes (1579–1688)
