Formed in 1845, the Holy Cross "Goodtime" Marching Band (HCGTMB) is one of the oldest organizations at The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. The "Goodtime" Band first began performing at football games in 1910 and the Band's role has expanded significantly since then to include other athletic appearances, performing at all home football games, select away games, in exhibition at high school band competitions, and at various events throughout the country. In the spring, the marching band converts into the Holy Cross Crusader Pep Band and plays at all home basketball games, and travels with the teams to the NCAA tournament. The Marching Band performs at Fitton Field while the Pep Band plays in the Hart Center.

Famous quotes containing the words holy, cross, marching and/or band:
“now I discerne they goe on a Pilgrimage
Towards Loves holy land, faire Paphos or Cyprus.
Such devotion is meete for a blithesome age;
With sweet youth, it agrees well to be amorous.
Let olde angrie fathers lurke in an Hermitage:
Come, weele associate this jolly Pilgrimage!”
—Thomas Campion (15671620)
“Passion is here a soilure of the wits,
Were told, and Love a cross for them to bear;
Joy shivers in the corner where she knits
And Conscience always has the rocking-chair,
Cheerful as when she tortured into fits
The first cat that was ever killed by Care.”
—Edwin Arlington Robinson (18691935)
“John Browns body lies a-moldering in the grave,
His soul is marching on.”
—Thomas Brigham Bishop (18351905)
“The band waked me with a serenade. How they improve! A fine band and what a life in a regiment! Their music is better than food and clothing to give spirit to the men.”
—Rutherford Birchard Hayes (18221893)
