High On The Hog (The Band Album)

High On The Hog (The Band Album)

High on the Hog is the ninth studio album by Canadian-American rock group The Band, released in 1996. As with its predecessor, 1993's Jericho, it relies heavily on cover versions; only two tracks are original. Songs include Bob Dylan's "Forever Young" (which was intended as a tribute to Jerry Garcia), a live recording of the late Richard Manuel performing "She Knows", and the closer "Ramble Jungle" (which features vocals by Champion Jack Dupree).

Famous quotes containing the words high, hog and/or band:

    But evil things, in robes of sorrow,
    Assailed the monarch’s high estate;
    Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849)

    Even under the most perfect Social Democracy we should, without Communism, still be living like hogs, except that each hog would get his fair share of grub.... Whilst we are hogs, let us at least be well-fed, healthy, reciprocally useful hogs, instead of—well, instead of the sort we are at present.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)

    What passes for identity in America is a series of myths about one’s heroic ancestors. It’s astounding to me, for example, that so many people really seem to believe that the country was founded by a band of heroes who wanted to be free. That happens not to be true. What happened was that some people left Europe because they couldn’t stay there any longer and had to go someplace else to make it. They were hungry, they were poor, they were convicts.
    James Baldwin (1924–1987)
