Year Structure
Each year in the College, excluding Post 16, is divided into 4 faculties: Arts, Communications, Science & Maths, and Technology. There are 8 tutor groups in each faculty consisting of approximately 20-25 students in each - 2 different classes of the same year in each faculty E.g. Arts
- two year 7, two year 8 etc. In Year 7 some lessons are taught in tutor groups, except Design & Technology and Art, but in Year 8 the Core Subjects are mixed on ability between Science & Technology and Arts & Communications.
From September 2009 all students started their GCSEs in Maths, Science and English a year early, and from September 2009 all GCSEs are started in Year 9.

Famous quotes containing the words year and/or structure:
“The first year was critical to my assessment of myself as a person. It forced me to realize that, like being married, having children is not an end in itself. You dont at last arrive at being a parent and suddenly feel satisfied and joyful. It is a constantly reopening adventure.”
—Anonymous Mother. From the Boston Womens Health Book Collection. Quoted in The Joys of Having a Child, by Bill and Gloria Adler (1993)
“The philosopher believes that the value of his philosophy lies in its totality, in its structure: posterity discovers it in the stones with which he built and with which other structures are subsequently built that are frequently betterand so, in the fact that that structure can be demolished and yet still possess value as material.”
—Friedrich Nietzsche (18441900)
