Hampton Court (TV Series)

Hampton Court was an Australian situation comedy series produced by Gary Reilly Productions in 1991.

The series was a spin-off of Hey Dad...! with the link being the inclusion here of Julie McGregor reprising her role of Betty Wilson. She continued to play that role in Hey Dad while this series was in production. Originally the lead character was meant to be Nudge but Christopher Truswell wanted to move on to different TV projects, so the character was changed to Betty Wilson.

The situation of Hampton Court involved four men living in a block of flats where they end up looking after a baby. Two women, including Betty, live next door and join the ongoing attempts to keep the baby secret from their meddling landlord, Mr. Colloudos (Roy Billing), a Greek immigrant, who enforces a strict no-babies rule in the building.

Others in the cast included Danielle Spencer, Maxine Klibingaitis and Adam Willits.

Robert Hughes appeared in 2 episodes.

Only a moderate ratings success, the program was not renewed beyond its initial series of 13 half-hour episodes.

Famous quotes containing the words hampton and/or court:

A great number of the disappointments and mishaps of the troubled world are the direct result of literature and the allied arts. It is our belief that no human being who devotes his life and energy to the manufacture of fantasies can be anything but fundamentally inadequate
    —Christopher Hampton (b. 1946)

In the court of the movie Owner, none criticized, none doubted. And none dared speak of art. In the Owner’s mind art was a synonym for bankruptcy.... The movie Owners are the only troupe in the history of entertainment that has never been seduced by the adventure of the entertainment world.
    Ben Hecht (1893–1964)
