Hammer Smashed Face - Critical Reception

Critical Reception

"Hammer Smashed Face" is one of the band's most popular songs, mainly due to a shortened version appearing in the film Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. Since it is included on Tomb of the Mutilated, it was banned from Germany until June 2006, when it was played at a 2006 performance at Essen.

When asked if he had a favorite Cannibal Corpse album, singer Chris Barnes described the Hammer Smashed EP as "one of the underrated ones". Barnes also hailed the group's cover of Black Sabbath's "Zero the Hero" as "one of the greatest". The song itself is included on Kerrang!'s 25 Extreme Metal Anthems.

Famous quotes containing the words critical and/or reception:

Post-modernism has cut off the present from all futures. The daily media add to this by cutting off the past. Which means that critical opinion is often orphaned in the present.
    John Berger (b. 1926)

But in the reception of metaphysical formula, all depends, as regards their actual and ulterior result, on the pre-existent qualities of that soil of human nature into which they fall—the company they find already present there, on their admission into the house of thought.
    Walter Pater (1839–1894)
