Personality
Greg is a lazy middle school aged boy and shows almost no remorse for his wrongdoings. He is totally oblivious to his own character foibles and considers himself basically flawless in personality as opposed to those around him, albeit he does not always treat his family, friends, and schoolmates respectfully, particularly his best friend, Rowley Jefferson. On several occasions throughout the course of the series, people have been blamed for misdeeds that were actually committed by Greg in reality and he seldom took action in admitting his mistakes and allowing the falsely-accused person accept the punishments that he deserved more. Greg loves video games and would rather spend his spare time playing them than engaging in any form of outdoor activity, albeit on numerous occasions he has been forced into giving them up by an adult (particularly his mother Susan) in order to take part in other activities, often against his will. Another negative personality aspect displayed by Greg is his paranoia, especially after he has performed a wrongdoing of some sort and fears that somebody is going to attempt to seek vengeance on him for doing this, and sometimes he becomes paranoid over impossible things (such as fearing that his misplaced childhood doll Alfrendo will seek revenge on him for replacing it with a grapefruit or that the Muddy Hand in a horror movie will come for him), and his grasp on reality is not always the strongest. In Cabin Fever, he hung a tag on his parish's giving tree for himself requesting money and once shoveled the pathway to the Church in order to his request, and this good deed was noted in the local newspaper since this enabled a soup kitchen to be opened in spite of the snow. Later, although Greg was not identified by the newspaper, he gave his identity away in a newspaper that he and Rowley attempted to publish themselves in order to receive the glory.
In the movie, while he intilially has this obnoxious personality to a slightly lesser degree, Greg did not keep it. He became much more mature, and took the blame for stuff he did, and in 1 case, even took the blame for eating the cheese to protect Rowley's honor and dignity.

Famous quotes containing the word personality:
“The great pines stand at a considerable distance from each other. Each tree grows alone, murmurs alone, thinks alone. They do not intrude upon each other. The Navajos are not much in the habit of giving or of asking help. Their language is not a communicative one, and they never attempt an interchange of personality in speech. Over their forests there is the same inexorable reserve. Each tree has its exalted power to bear.”
—Willa Cather (18731947)
“The child begins life as a pleasure-seeking animal; his infantile personality is organized around his own appetites and his own body. In the course of his rearing the goal of exclusive pleasure seeking must be modified drastically, the fundamental urges must be subject to the dictates of conscience and society, urges must be capable of postponement and in some instances of renunciation completely.”
—Selma H. Fraiberg (20th century)
“Dogs got personality. Personality goes a long way.”
—Quentin Tarantino, U.S. screenwriter and director, and Roger Avary. Jules (Samuel Jackson)
